Family time: Worshipping together
It’s summer and I am getting plenty of family time with the kids. While my husband is working hard, I am too as I try to keep everyone satisfied, occupied and on schedule to work and so forth.
I have four children ages 17, 12, 2 and 9 months. My 17-year-old plays football and has a job, but since he doesn’t have a car yet, I am his chauffeur most of the time. I don’t mind this, because it won’t be forever. They grow up so fast and he will have a car very soon.
I spend a lot of busy time with my children. I have routines such as reading a book at bedtime with my 2-year-old, kissing my daughter good night, and rocking my 9-month-old to sleep when I can. My oldest son and I talk on the way to his work and football practice. The list goes on and on. I consider this all family time.
The most treasured family time I have is worshipping God together. This is the most important thing we can do as a family. This is something we do looking toward an eternal future together.
There is nothing more satisfying to me than listening to my husband preach, seeing my son play the drums, sitting on the front row with my daughter and having my two baby boys with me in God’s house.
Do we have problems? Of course! The devil is not going to stop fighting us, but Jesus has already won this war. We just have to hold fast to our faith in Him. The Bible says train up a child in the way they should go and when they are old they won’t depart from it. I’m clinging to every promise there is in the Bible, knowing that God will never lie.
I want to encourage everyone to continue with Godly routines in their family life. God is with you and He never changes. His word is true. Keep pushing together in faith!
