I know that doesn’t sound like the Christ like attitude we read about in the Word, however, this topic really is in the Word. We are called to care for ourselves.
In Acts 20:28 we are directed to “guard ourselves, be careful for ourselves, take care of ourselves,’ etc. and to take care of the flock or those whom God has placed in our lives.
I emphasize this today because we all need to take a deep breath at regular intervals and relax. In this fast paced world where we are constantly on the move, doing something for someone, taking care of business we can stretch ourselves too thin. I know I have—and probably you have too. If we are not our ‘best’, we cannot give our best. Even this week, I was overwhelmed with all the things on my to do list. I was so exhausted after trying to “get it all done” that I wanted to just have a good cry (And feel sorry for myself) LOL
Well, I didn’t but instead gave myself a good “talkin to”. I have to refocus, regroup and pace myself. And realize that it is ok to do that—pace yourself. The only way we develop stamina is to be consistently training, balancing rest days with push harder days. If we don’t take care of ourselves, we will not endure AND we will not have anything of value to offer those we influence, our flock.
I urge you to take care of yourself-physically, emotionally, spiritually, intellectually, relationally
Take time for yourself, dear one. God’s desire is for you to be the best you possible!!
OXOXO
