Happy Thursday Evening, Sisterhood!
A New Year is always exciting and at the same time, daunting. Thoughts of new possibilities, open doors, challenges and changes can have that effect on us. I love seeing people’s posts and pics about the “word” God’s given them for the year. I think it’s a great practice.
If I had to pinpoint a specific thought that I feel God is impressing on me in this New Year, and actually narrow it down to a ‘word’, it would probably be “WORD”-as in get in His Word. Oh, I know, we’re all “supposed” to be reading our bibles, so that shouldn’t be some revelation. And, yes, every bit of truth I need will be found in it; but it’s not about that or the head knowledge of learning it. It’s about finding HIM in it. Think about this for just a moment: His very breath spoke the words that have been penned for us to read. Incomprehensible is His gentle pursuit of us through the pages of this eternal love letter but more surprising to me is that He wants to be pursued in return!! All He wants is me- and you know what??? Beloved sisters, He wants YOU too. He promises that if we search for Him, we’ll find Him. How’s that for passionate pursuit??!!
Here’s a challenging thought: What would it look like if we pursued God like we pursue relationships, job status, affirmation, influence >>> [insert the current passion that drives you to action-ouch!].
Simple thoughts from a girl who often overcomplicates things, thinks too deep and wrestles with her Creator about so much.
“Then [with a deep longing] you will seek Me and require Me [as a vital necessity] and [you will] find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13 AMP
