A big black eye

Proverbs 5 warns young men against being lured into the strange woman’s trap of spiritual death. She is alluring, but will only bring misery. That’s how sin is, it’s alluring and fun in the beginning, but ultimately brings bondage and misery.

God tells the young man to find a good wife in his youth and love her. This is true wisdom. With God in the middle of our relationships, we cannot lose. Yes, there are struggles. Yes, marriage is hard sometimes. But to desire evil, is to desire death. God says the steps of a righteous man are ordered. I am thankful for my righteous husband, too.

The wisdom of Proverbs is so deep. I just love it. I have received wisdom from above as I tumbled through the past few days. Sometimes wisdom comes from mistakes, when our mistakes lead us closer to the Lord. True wisdom always comes from God. God says when we ask for wisdom He freely gives it to us.

Today I have had a day of learning. I lost my temper in traffic and the old road rage showed up. I thought I crucified that devil, but it rose back up today in this ugly flesh of mine! I had to repent!

After that I accidentally rolled my two year olds hand in the car window. Fortunately he is fine, but it’s swollen and red and I feel terrible. After we returned home, I was helping him put his new Paw Patrol outfit on and he got so excited he leaned back to joyfully yell for the Paw Patrol and he got me in the eye with his head. His head was fine, but I saw stars. My eye instantly swelled up.

What wisdom have I learned today? I have learned that it can always be worse. Also, I feel like the devil must be mad at me because he is sure trying hard. He already knows he lost this battle, even though I literally have a big black eye! The devil may have got a lick on me but this is not over yet! Praise the Lord, I’m pressing through.

"What wisdom have I learned today?" I'm going to make it a routine to ask myself that question each day. It's so powerful. Sarah, thank you for pressing through and sharing this encouraging word today. Sometimes we need to acknowledge that the enemy got a punch in, but Praise the Lord, it is not over yet! I’m pressing through.
