Being a Proverbial Girl

Sweet Sisters, I an so excited about this month’s topic for devo blogs!! We will discuss (though barely scratch the surface) a Proverb everyday. There is SO MUCH to be gained from reading Proverbs that we really should read a portion of it everyday. Every time I read these verses, I see what I have highlighted in the past and see something else that should be highlighted.

We will begin with Chapter One—the verses that popped out to me this time were the PURPOSE of the Proverbs.

Verses 2-6“Their purpose is to teach people wisdom and discipline, to help them understand the insights of the wise. Their purpose is to teach people to live disciplined and successful lives, to help them do what is right, just, and fair. These proverbs will give insight to the simple, knowledge and discernment to the young. Let the wise listen to these proverbs and become even wiser. Let those with understanding receive guidance by exploring the meaning in these proverbs and parables, the words of the wise and their riddles.”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭1:2-6‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The purpose is to give US, the reader, the tools necessary to live a godly, wise, successful life. Who doesn’t want that?? This wisdom is for all ages, we never reach a pinnacle of wisdom. We continue on this journey our entire lives.

Also within this chapter is a very candid view of what happens when we don’t choose the way of wisdom. We have the opportunity each day to begin making wise choices and ask God to help us walk in discipline to follow through.

I am making a new commitment to choose to be a “proverbial girl” walking in the ways that Proverbs teaches. Will you join me?? I hope so!
