Psalm 100:4 KJV
[4] Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
When I pray, I try to begin each prayer by thanking God for what He has done, then praising Him for his goodness and mercy.
Sometimes life gets overwhelming and we tend to focus on the problems we are facing at the moment, instead of the one who holds the answer. This is when it gets really hard to praise Him. But this is when we need to praise Him the most.
We walk by faith and not by sight. We praise God for who He is and not what He gives. Praise releases faith. God already knows what we have need of. We can receive whatever we need by faith. Praise Him as though you have already received it.
Jesus made it possible to come to Him quickly by simply believing what He did for us when He died on the cross. We place our faith in Christ and we are in the throne room, spiritually speaking. He hears our prayers and will answer them if we are in right standing with Him and pray according to His will.
Always approach the Lord with a thankful heart. The word promises that we will receive what we ask, unless we ask amiss or if our heart condemns us. God said He is greater than our heart though, so that’s not a problem either. If our heart condemns us it is because there is something in it that God is pointing at that is not right in us. However, all we must do is ask Him to remove that thing and He will. He is faithful and full of mercy.
He does not give us the things we deserve, because none of us would be worthy of anything good. So be thankful today as you think of His great love and His mercy for you. I am so thankful that He first loved me and He died for me when I was His enemy.
