It keeps reverberating in my spirit. It is as if I could place myself back in time under those trees with David and his armies. Once again the Philistines were coming against him. As was his custom, David asked God what battle plan he should take.
"And it shall be, when you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, then you shall advance quickly. For then the Lord will go out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines." II Sam 5:24
Marching in the tree tops! David and his men could only HEAR the marching. But that noise was proof of an entire army of angels going into battle. God reminded me of this verse recently and it has stayed with me. He wants His people to remember there is a bigger war raging. The heavenly armies are not at rest.
Our current events have left much fear, disappointments, and confusion. From disease, social events and politics, our entire world has tilted. But not God's. His ways are still the same. His actions have not altered. If He had angelic armies fighting in ancient times, it only makes sense He does now as well. But are we listening for the sound of their footsteps marching to battle? If not, we must ask ourselves why?
Why are we running to and fro seeking 'today's prophetic voice' instead of stopping to listen to His battle plan for us personally?
Why are we looking at each other in disappointment or judgment if we happen to have different beliefs about the events around us? We should ask Him to show us where the true fight is.
Why are we as believers talking more about sickness and politics than we are about what God is speaking to us and our nation?
Yes. Our country and our world is in a mess!! But as Christ said, why does this surprise us?
It's time to look at events through spiritual eyes. When we see riots, protests, or watch lives be altered by mandates, can't we recognize the spiritual fight behind it? There is much activity going on in the spirit world. A fight for the very soul of our nation - and eventually our world.
It's time to look toward our heavenly Commander-in-chief. One day this world, and yes, our nation, will fade away. But His world will not.
It's time to get excited about what He is going to do among us, because.....
There is marching in the tree tops!!
