Inside Out

Writer's picture: Kara HolmesKara Holmes

I learned a verse as a child, “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable (pleasing) in your sight.” As well as ”I have hidden your words in my heart, that I might not sin against you”. Two great thoughts from the book of Psalms. It amazes me how easily I can recount that, yet when I stop and meditate, truly spend some time thinking on God’s Word, I am reminded of all the ‘other ‘ things that fill my mind on a daily basis. I also think of how the things that crowd my mind shape my thinking which in turn affects my speech.

My challenge is to put deep within me the WORDS of God because I truly do not want to bring any offense to Him or bring sin into my life— Let out my WORDS that come from my thinking, processing, meditating, so it will be pleasing to Him and bring Him honor, and be uplifting to others.

Luke 6:45 tells us that “what you say flows from what is in your heart—good or evil” (my paraphrase). We need to be careful what we allow in our minds, hearts, thinking patterns, it is from that area that we will speak. Be diligent my sisters!
