Happy Monday!! And yes, I mean it :)
Mondays are my favorite-next to Sundays of course. I seem to have the greatest surge of energy, positivity, motivation and overall feelings of joy. Why? I attribute it to my rebellious nature. Before anyone gets silly about that statement, here’s what I mean: I’ve grown to understand that my perspective on life can flow from my natural personality-how God created me. I’ve spent too many years of my life trying to figure out why I was so different when all I needed to do was understand that I am deeply loved by God exactly how He made me. Every tendency, quirk, even the fact that I don’t like to be bossed around (except by Jesus). I’ve made up my mind that Mondays are great because everyone else says they’re not!
I’m also naturally a person who fights for the underdog. Well, Monday is the underdog! See where I’m going? Monday gets such a bad rap. I don’t have statistical proof but I’m certain people complain more about Mondays than any other day. And because I’m hard-wired a little different, I’m giddy about the 1st day of the week! I’m determined to win people over and change their minds about Mondays. If we ever get the opportunity to share a Monday together, be prepared… I’m coming for you, smiles and all :)
Ok. That was fun. Let me reign this in with a little sincerity. Sisters, how are we approaching the beginning of our week? What mindset are we passively letting ourselves operate in? How do we get to spend the day before (Sunday) corporately worshiping the God of the Universe, fellowshipping in His Word and yet somehow wake up, and ‘bless’ our families and coworkers with an attitude that is contrary to that experience? Maybe you’ve been in a tough season. Trust me. I understand all of that. I’m speaking to myself, too. When I get in a place where I need a little reframing of my mind-which affects my attitude- I recall this scripture from Phil 4:8, “And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” I love the amplified version because it gives me a job to do- fix my thoughts. It means that nothing and no one can boss me around about how I’m going to handle my day. It’s up to ME. All I know is that God’s been too good for me to waste a Monday complaining. Ladies, let’s become Monday Motivators!!
