Godly friends are a gift from the Lord. Can I get an amen?? But Godly friendships are not just happened upon. They are crafted over time. So, what value do Godly friendships have in our lives? Friendships that are centered around God are challenging and encouraging. They meet you where you are and don't just tell you what to do, but walk along side you holding one hand, as the Lord grabs the other one.
Sometimes those friends are just there to sit and listen and hold you while you cry and vent, while other times they point you to the Word of God that is truly "alive and active, sharper than any double edged sword" (Hebrews 4:12). These friends are gifts from the Lord and always bring you back to the Lord.
They sit at your home while your children run wild and you clean the kitchen. They sit in your car and ask hard questions and listen to you cry and confess things you haven't told anyone yet. They know all about your heart and are still willing to sit and be your friend.
The Lord is good and he wants us to have those friends, those Godly friends that are pursuing Him and challenge us to do the same.
